Bp Paolo celebrated a Requiem Mass for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis in the presence of UAE priests, the Apostolic Nuncio to the UAE, and representatives of other religions and Christian denominations.

After the mass celebrated in St Mary's Dubai by Bp Paolo on the day of Pope Francis' funeral, for the repose of his soul, a condolences meeting was held in the presence of the Apostolic Nuncio to the UAE and representatives of other Christian denominations and religions.

Bp Paolo celebrated a memorial mass for the soul for pope Francis on the day of his funeral, Saturday 26 April, in St Mary's Dubai, in the presence of the apostolic nuncio to the UAE, priests and religious sisters.

Arch. Christophe El-Kassis, Apostolic Nuncio to the UAE, presided over a Memorial Mass, on April 24, at St. Francis Church, Abrahamic Family House, concelebrated by Bp Paolo Martinelli, Apostolic vicar of Southern Arabia, in the presence of local authorities, members of the Diplomatic Corps and representatives of other religions and Christian denominations.

Following the death of our beloved Pope Francis, Holy Masses will be celebrated for the happy repose of his soul across the vicariate.

Bp Paolo remembered the pontificate of Pope Francis and his inheritance for us, for the Church, and for the world.

Christ our hope is risen, alleluia. We are freed forever from sin and the fear of death. So let us begin to live on this earth as resurrected people: when we pray that “your will be done on earth as it is in heaven”, we ultimately ask that the earth become heaven and that heaven be reflected on earth, in our hearts and in our communities.

Christ is risen from the dead, he destroyed death forever. We celebrate our liberation, our redemption. The resurrection of Christ does not only concern the world to come but changes the way of living even today. We are called to live as resurrected people, live the great Christian hope in every circumstance of life, in the family, at work, at school, with friends and in the society.

Christ is risen, evil and death have been conquered. He appeared saying: “Peace be with you”; I invite you to share a sign of peace with your family, friends, even those with whom you had a bitter experience. As one Christian community, let us be a prophecy of Peace to the world.

Commemoration of the passion and death of Jesus Christ on the Cross, an event that shocked the world and changed the destiny of humanity. Why is the cross our only hope? This is the hope that does not disappoint because on that cross our evil was defeated forever.

Last Supper of Jesus and institution of the Eucharist. We do not simply remember an event from the past, it happens again today. The sacrifice of Christ frees us from the deepest evil, from internal slavery, from death, and makes us capable to be loved and to love.

Bp Paolo addressed especially all the priests of the Vicariate, encouraging them in their mission.

Meditating on the Lord's passion fills us with consolation and patience, learning how to bear the adversities of daily life

Jesus reminds us that we are all sinners. When we forget this, we become accusers and violent. When we are aware of our sin, we become humble. Sometimes we remain attached to our past, to our sins and we do not believe that God can truly forgive us. The danger is to remain full of resentment and bitterness towards us and others for the past mistakes. Let us learn to look at ourselves and others in a new way.

On this Sunday of Joy, the word of God gives us a great reason for joy: the mercy of God the Father through the parable of the prodigal son.
