The Christian Formation Committee had their April bi-annual meeting at Saint Mary’s School Muhaisnah on April 20-21st.
The committee is composed of representatives from all of the parishes and those with special formation or training in catechetics.
The committee meets to discuss new resources, conferences and strategies for good catechism programs and good catechists formation.
The meeting in April covered many pertinent topics . The 2018 conference was reviewed and the 2019 conference was discussed. It was agreed to change the format of the Saturday of the conference to include more practical teaching methodology and class level sessions. The theme of the conference in 2019 will be taken from Pope Francis’ recent exhortation, “ Gaudete et Exsultate”, “Be Holy as I am Holy”.
The conference will focus on the role of Mother Mary, the Saints and the call to holiness for all.
The main part of the meeting was a very useful workshop by Sister Alma Esmero SPC on the process of self- evaluation of the catechists. This will be finalized and offered to the catechists in the next academic year.
The Christian Formation Committee is a great collaborative body to insure that all parishes have an opportunity to share in the work of catechesis in the Vicariate. The commitment and guidance of the memberss is very appreciated. Thank you to the priests who have sent these representatives to the committee meetings.
