The Friday of 8 January 2016 will witness a unique event in the history of St. Joseph's Cathedral. For the first time, two priestly oridinations will be conducted in the premises. Bishop Paul Hinder will conduct the ordination ceremony of the two Capuchin deacons during the midst of a solemn Eucharistic Celebration at 6 PM. The Eucharist is celebrated on the outdoor stage to allow a larger participation by the faithful.
The Deacons who are being ordained are Darick D'Souza of the Holy Trinity (Karnataka) Capuchin Province and Arun Raj Manuel of the St. Francis (Kerala) Capuchin Province. Both the deacons lived in the United Arab Emirates during their younger years with their parents, who lived in Dubai and Abu Dhabi respectively.
Bishop Paul Hinder played a pivotal role in guiding the two deacons along their journey to the priesthood.
