Bishop Paul Hinder OFM.Cap
Vicar Apostolic of Southern Arabia
Peace in Christ.
It is with great shock and sorrow that I heard of the brutal murder of the four Missionaries of Charity Sisters and their patients in Aden, Yemen. RIP. Please accept my condolences to you and to all the clergy, religious, and faithful of the Vicariate of Southern Arabia.
The Sisters shared in the suffering of Christ on the Cross by shedding their blood for their brothers and sisters whom they served with love.
The Missionaries of Charity of Blessed Teresa have eighteen houses in Ethiopia where their services to the poorest of the poor is very much loved and respected by the society. It is hard to think that there are persons who want to harm them or even to kill them as it happened in Aden. May God forgive the murderers because 'they do not know what they do".
Please, give my condolences to Sr. M. Prema, the Superior General of the Missionaries of Charity, and the Superior of the Community who survived the massacre of Aden. I am praying also for your priest Fr Tom whose whereabouts is not known.
May Our Lord Jesus Christ receive the souls of our dear Sisters of the Missionaries of Charity and the others, including some Ethiopians, in Heaven in the presence of Blessed Teresa of Kolkota.
Joining you with prayers and solidarity, I remain,
Yours in the Risen Lord,
