The theme of the XXXI World Youth Day 2016 in Krakow is "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy." (Matthew 5:7). The theme song of WYD 2016 "
Blessed are the merciful
" attempts to capture the essence of the unfathomable mercy of God. Written by Polish composer Jakub Blycharz, the hymn is full of rich Biblical references and reassurances of the mercy of God who helps, protects and redeems us from every situation.
MasterPlan, a Catholic Band based out of Dubai, United Arab Emirates has released an English version of the theme song. The highly talented group of 11 professionals was featured on the world stage during the Youth Festival in Rio de Janiero as part of World Youth Day 2013.
