Bishop Paul Hinder informs that Fr. Tom Uzhunnalil is presently with a Salesian Community in Rome where he will spend the following days in rest and recovery.
The Bishop once again expresses his thanks to God, to all the faithful around the world who prayed, to the officials of the Sultanate of Oman who worked for the release of Fr. Tom - representatives of his Majesty the Sultan, and to officials of the Vatican.
The Bishop communicated briefly from Assisi where he is participating in a meeting of all the Capuchin Bishops from 12-15 September.
Communique from the Holy See regarding the release of Fr. Tom: This morning (12th of September, 2017), Rev. Fr. Tom Uzhunnalil, S.D.B., kidnapped
on March 4, 2016 in Yemen has been freed.
The Holy See greatly thanks all those who have helped in this effort, especially His Majesty the Sultan of Oman and his relevant collaborators in the Sultanate.
The Father will be visiting for a few days the Salesian community in Rome before departing for India.

Bishop Paul Hinder is happy to inform that Fr. Tom Uzhunnalil SDB, who was abducted during the attack on the Care Home run by the Missionaries of Charity in Aden, Yemen on 4th March 2016 has been released today. He is now is safe hands.
The Bishop thanks all those who were involved in the release efforts and all those all over the world who prayed unceasingly for the safe release of Fr. Tom.
More details are awaited and will be released as and when available.
