The AVOSA Family Ministry General Body met for their quarterly meeting on the 7 September 2018 at St. Paul’s Church, Mussaffah. The highlights of the meeting were:
Report of the AVOSA representation at the World Meeting of Families 2018 in Dublin and feedback given by those present who had attended the event.
Study of Bishop Paul’s recently released pastoral letter 2018 followed by a discussion on some of the most relevant points.
A proposal to bring out a manual on Long Distance Relationships for married singles whose spouses are left behind in the home country was studied and will be implemented in the coming months.
Following the wonderful success of the Teens Seminars held earlier during the year, plans to organize an interactive programme for teens and their parents in the various parishes were discussed. Workshops and trainings are also scheduled for the coming quarter.
In addition to the monthly Wedding Anniversary Mass and Marriage Preparation Course, activities conducted by the Family Ministry teams in September included:
Holy mass and get-together for children of determination was celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Church Jebel Ali on 21September 2018. It was well received by the parents who were highly appreciative of the fact that the parish had accommodated them at the parish mass, celebrating the gift of these special children in the parish community.
The Hope and Life Group of widows and widowers celebrated their Annual Day with a mass followed by a get-together at St. Mary’s Church Dubai on 29September 2018. It was a joy-filled atmosphere where guests got to witness the love, togetherness and solidarity that group members share.
Marriage Encounter (ME): The ME National Ecclesial Team (NET) had attended the 43rd WWME Asian Conference 2018 held in Kagoshima, Japan from 17-22 September together with team representatives from twelve countries. Celebrating the theme As I Have loved You, the NET came back empowered to ‘keep moving forward’ as urged by Pope Francis and with a deep gratitude for this wonderful movement of the church.
Couples for Christ (CFC): The CFC UAE National Council and Mission Core members from different areas of Northern Emirates, Dubai and Abu Dhabi had convened in a Mission Core Assembly and Teaching on 7September 2018 at St. Francis of Assisi Church Jebel Ali.
Catholics for Family and Life (CFFL): Live Pure, a Catholic pro-life youth movement, promoting and defending the culture of life conducted the Live Pure Conference titled You Matter at Mussafah on 7September 2018.

27October 2018: Let’s Talk it Out pilot session of the interactive workshop for Parents and Teenagers at St. Mary’s Church, Dubai.
The Marriage Encounter will be conducting two live-in weekends on 4-6 October and 11-13 October.
The UAE Committed Servants Weekend (CSW) Retreat will be held on 19th October at St. Therese Church in Abu Dhabi.
