"The pastoral care of the regularly established family signifies, in practice, the commitment of all the members of the local ecclesial community to helping the couple to discover and live their new vocation and mission. In order that the family may be ever more a true community of love, it is necessary that all its members should be helped and trained in their responsibilities as they face the new problems that arise, in mutual service, and in active sharing in family life." (Familiaris Consortio)
The Church in the Vicariate is committed to provide support for the institution of marriage and the family throughout its journey towards its eternal homeland, where all its members will reunite once again. While it passes through this life, the Church with its inexhaustible treasures of grace provides support to the sacred sacrament established by Christ.
The Church does this through ongoing catechesis and formation of the family members and also with the various ministries which it places at the service of the family. In addition to the services provided for the family by its ordained ministers and religious, an important part of the Church's ministry in supporting families is played by lay people.
The Vicariate Family Ministry comprises of a team of dedicated priests, sisters and married couples who support the institution of the family through talks, seminars, formation courses, counselling and by providing support material.
