Regarded as the worst in a century, the devastating floods in Kerala have left hundreds dead and thousands homeless and displaced. As floodwaters have started recession, the focus is now on taking care of the people staying in relief camps and rehabilitating them whose houses have been destroyed in the floods.
Bishop Paul and the clergy and religious, together with the lay faithful of the Vicariate have been following the events closely and keeping all those affected in their prayers - we commend those who have passed away to the mercy of God, and pray for God’s abundant consolation and healing to descend on the families of the victims and all those affected in one way or another by the floods.
In addition to holding adorations and intercessory prayers, several parishes also organised collections of relief supplies which have already been dispatched to reach affected areas.
The Vicariate is also in touch with Caritas India and other channels which are coordinating relief, rehabilitation and rebuilding efforts at various levels.
