Fr. Joseph Thyagaraj Akkanath OFM Cap. passed away on 10 February 2022 at 10:20 pm. He belonged to the St. Thomas Capuchin Province in Kerala, India. He was 76 years old.
Born on 4 November 1946, Fr. Joseph made his temporary profession on 15 August 1946 and the final profession on 3 October 1973. His ordination to the priesthood was on 20 December 1975.
Fr. Joseph served in the Apostolic Vicariate of Southern Arabia during the period 1999 - 2004, initially as the assistant parish priest and later as the parish priest in Holy Spirit Church, Ghala, Oman (2000 - 2004).
The funeral ceremony will take place today (11 February 2022, 3 pm local time) at Shanti Capuchin Ashram, Perumbavoor, Kerala, India.
