Family Ministry Updates: October

04 November 2018 (Abu Dhabi).
 

The AVOSA Marriage Preparation Course(MPC) facilitators had met at St. Mary’s Church Dubai on Saturday, 27^th October for a review  of the new MPC manual and conduct an evaluation of what is going well, not so well and how we can do better.  It had been a highly fruitful discussion with feedback received from the candidates doing the course also being included in the exchange of thoughts and ideas.

Vatican Visitors had met with representatives from the Family Ministry  in Abu Dhabi and Dubai to discuss the faith life of lay Catholics in the region, touching on topics relating to the impact of the various cultures on the faith life and its influence on the new generation of Catholics.

In other areas the Family Ministry teams continued with their regular monthly activities. Programmes for Children of Determination and Seniors’ Evenings conducted by Dubai and Jebel Ali were some highlights of the month. 
 
AVOSA delegates to the World Meeting of Families (WMoF) attended a Thanksgiving Mass at St. Mary’s Church, Dubai in gratitude for a successful participation at the 2018 WMoF in Dublin, Ireland.
 
Couples for Christ (CFC)

• 22 young couples and 210 Singles for Christ (SFC) participated in the Arabian Catholic Youth Conference (ACYC) 2018 held on 25-27 October 2018 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Ras al Khaimah.

• CFC Kids for Christ (KFC) had their UAE Family Conference on October 12, in conjunction with the 25^th Year of the KFC anniversary at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Ras al Khaimah. It was attended by hundreds of CFC families and kids from different areas of the UAE.

• The CFC will be celebrating their 26^th Anniversary celebrations on 30^th November at St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Abu Dhabi.

 
Catholics for Family and Life (CFFL)

• The UAE Committed Servants Weekend (CSW) Retreat  was held on 19/20^th October at St. Therese Church in Abu Dhabi.

• Materials and resources of the Live Pure Movement’s UAE Conference conducted in October will be shared with the AVOSA Family Ministry for the benefit of the wider parish community.

 
Marriage Encounter (ME)
Continuing with the monthly Love Circles, the ME also conducted two ME weekends from 4-6 October and 11-13 October in Dubai with over 35 couples attending.
The two enriching weekends were enlivened by personal testimonies given by couples who had previously done the Marriage Encounter weekend.

The 18^th Quarterly General Body Meeting  of the AVOSA Family Ministry General Body will be held at  St. Francis of Assisi Church, Jebel Ali.
