With this short message, I bring you the joy of Easter in this Jubilee Year 2025, where we are called to be pilgrims of hope.
We all need a reliable hope. The world today marked by tensions, conflicts and wars, cannot be satisfied with temporary and futile hopes. Humanity needs a great hope, a hope that does not disappoint.
As migrants we know well that everything is transitory. We cannot put hope in things that pass away. When we look at our limits and our sins, when we look at the condition of the world today, we ask ourselves, “where can we find a solid hope through which we can face the difficulties and challenges to build the future? How can we support our children in their journey amidst the uncertainties that mark our time?”
Easter answers these questions, because Easter reminds us that Christ, our hope, is risen! He took upon himself our wounded human condition, he took upon himself our sins and our defeats and rose again from the dead to give the humanity that solid rock of hope which can never disappoint us. Easter reminds us that evil and death have been conquered forever by the lamb of God.
The risen Jesus is present among us and accompanies us on our journey being migrants. He is present in the Church, among the holy people of God. With baptism we were united with Christ who died and rose again and became members of his mystical body.
On this day, let us ask the Lord to make us experience that we belong to him; we are not alone. United in Christ as pilgrims of hope, let us walk together and help each other in difficulties with mutual love, until we reach the final encounter with the risen Jesus at the end of time.
Dear friends, there is a particular sign that expresses the joy of Easter: when Jesus appeared to his disciples, he greeted them saying: “Peace be with you”. Hope is expressed in the peace that we exchange today in Easter joy.
I invite you on this day to share with each other a sign of peace, in your family (between husband and wife, parents and children, among relatives), with friends, even with those with whom you had a bitter experience. As one Christian community, let us be a prophecy of Peace to the world.
Let us overcome every division and walk together as pilgrims of hope.
Christ is risen, he is truly risen! Alleluia! Happy Easter!
