On 27 March 2021, Sr. Mariangela Losa, a Comboni Missionary Sister who served 40 long years in the Gulf, passed away in retirement in Erba, the Province of Como, Italy.
Sr. Mariangela was born in the province of Como (Lombardy) on 29 February 1932. She began her missionary life after professing as a Comboni Missionary on 9 September 1953.
Sr. Mariangela Losa extended her missionary service in the Gulf region starting with the Kingdom of Bahrain (1966-1982) and in the UAE (1982-2006) for a period of 40 years. She served as a teacher and administrator in the Sacred Heart School Bahrain and St. Mary’s Catholic High School Dubai. She also excelled as a catechist and catechism coordinator at Sacred Heart Parish Bahrain and St. Mary’s Parish Dubai.
She served as a member of the pioneer community of the newly established Vicariate school of St. Mary’s Fujairah. She served in various roles in the school, being the Administrator and organiser of the library and exams. She was also the local organiser for the annual Vicariate Catechists’ Convention at the school.
Having completed her mission in the Gulf, she returned to Italy in 2006. For a few years, she served in the General House in Rome after which she moved into retirement.
