2025 will be a year of Jubilee for the Catholic Church, celebrated every 25 years, in which we celebrate the year of messianic favour inaugurated by Christ through his Incarnation and Paschal Mystery. It is also known as a “Holy Year,” since it is a time in which God's holiness transforms us. It will be celebrated in Rome from 24 December 2024 to 6 January 2026, and in our Vicariate, from 29 December 2024 to 28 December 2025.
Plenary indulgence can be obtained by a pilgrimage either to one of the four Papal Major Basilicas in Rome, or one of three Basilicas in the Holy Land, or one of the two churches designated by Bp Paolo Martinelli as the Shrine Churches for our vicariate during the Jubilee Year: St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Ras Al Khaimah, U.A.E. and Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at Ruwi, Muscat, Oman. When we travel, we do not only change place physically, but we also change ourselves. To prepare ourselves well for the Jubilee 2025, pope Francis asked that 2024 would be a Year of Prayer.
